*I got this bowl to help my dog from eating too fast and then throwing up. He doesn't do it often but he doesn't it often enough for me to worry that he could get bloat. He's a 15 lb Maltese terrier mix (bit overweight, he could probably be 13 or 14 lbs). I also got it for my adolescent cat who is about 8-9 lbs (and will probably be about 10-11 fully grown). The cat eats so fast and gets gassy from it. Plus, he bullies the dog to eat his food. Pictures are included to show you the size of my pets and the sizes of their snouts.It came in an easy to recycle box and the sticker at the bottom was easy to remove. That fact that it was on the bottom pleased me since I don't want him eating stickers. Speaking of the bottom, it has nice rubber on it to protect my floors and to keep them from sliding. Plus, it has a nice weight to it. I put it on its side in the washer before use and it looked great coming out. Heavy duty plastic resin seems like quality stuff that will stand the test of time. "White" color is actually a shade of beige. The shape looks like the picture, perhaps the color a shade lighter, like cream or ivory.I feed both my dog and cat 1/4 cup of dry and wet food twice a day (half a cup total), sometimes with a small snack late at night. That 1/4 fills the crevices of the bowl without it being heaping. I thought it was great since it makes my dog work for his food. I also bought the xs for my cat since he has short snout. I thought it made the xs a little too easy looking to eat out of for the dog but perfect for the cat. I wasn't sure which size either would like, which is why I bought both.Turns out both like the extra small one. The small was too much of a challenge for my dog. He's snout is a bit too short to reach, and while he a fast eater he is not tenacious. After making the bowl heaping-ly full to encourage the dog to transition to that bowl he refused to use it but lied down pathetically next to it, waiting for me give him something else to eat. I poured the contents of his small bowl into the extra small and he ate. The bowl worked (yay!) and he definitely slowed down. Finger hole at the size of the bowl make it easy for people to pick it up. I didn't even bother with the small for the cat because my assumptions about his snout were correct - perfect size for him. Even with his tenacious food habits he still has to work to get it.I like this product! I'd definitely recommend it to others. I'm actually thinking of getting the small for mother-in-law's cats.
