I have this same gouge in 1/4’’ and now 1/2‘’ and they’re probably tied for the top spot on my list of favorite gouges. I took a chance on the new gouge from Robust called a ‘’Turners Edge’’ bc they claim to use the same Titanium Nitride in their gouges except theirs is combined into the steel rather than a plating that can be chipped off like on these gouges..well I gotta say that any of my other hss tools hold an edge longer than the Robust gouge so this is easily a safe bet if you’re going for the Titanium Nitride..I’m very happy with both of mine
